This morning we left Leon and we continue our journey to the Basque Country. It was a relaxing day, and we made one stop in the town of Santander. It is a popular vacation spot with the Spanish in the summer to escape the city heat. Most of tourists are from Spain, with only about 20% from other areas. Real estate compared to US prices is cheap, with the most expensive area on the beach costing about €500,000 for a 2-3 bedroom apartment. The further inland you go, the cheaper it gets.

After a brief city tour, we were back on the motor coach for an hour to our next stop, Bilbao. We will be here for the next three nights until we head to the Pyrenees for some fresh mountain air.
